We remind every one of our customers to include access to salt for their animals every day all day when they’re raising one for the county fair. However, it’s rare that you see that same salt block brought with you to the fair and left in the animals pen. The county fair can and usually is the highest period of stress for most animals in their lives, and one of the biggest challenges is keeping them on feeding and being hydrated.

Salt has two of the three primary electrolytes needed by every animal on the face of the earth, but is all too often forgotten when it is the most important. The solution is to keep a small salt block in their pen at the fair at all times. This will keep them on track and hydrated which is especially important when drenching is not allowed.

You can buy salt blocks at your local feed store.
